How to work out how many panels you need
Measure the run, divide by the panel width and round up. Here is the full method.
1. Measure the run
Measure the length of the line the fence will follow, in metres. For a site with several sides, add each side together, and keep each straight section separate if you can.
2. Divide by the panel width
V mesh panels are 3000mm wide. Twin wire and 358 panels are 2500mm wide. Divide the run by the panel width and round up. For example, a 25m run in 2.5m panels needs 10 panels.
3. Count the posts
For a straight run you need one more post than panels, so 11 posts for 10 panels. Add posts for corners and ends, and two gate posts for each gate. Gates replace the panel width they sit in.
4. Choose the height
Pick the height to suit the site. Our product pages list heights from 1.8m up to 2.4m, along with the post length for each.
5. Allow for slopes
On sloping ground panels can step down in stages. Measure the drop over the run and speak to us if the fall is steep.
Our product pages do the sums for you. Enter the run length and the panel count updates, with volume pricing applied automatically.
